Breathe Easy Cottage – spacious, private, peaceful, beautiful.... memorable!

Private Ontario cottage looks out on brilliant Fall colours

Image

Fall is truly glorious in Saugeen Country, with a brilliant variety of trees offering up an astonishing display of colour under crisp clean blue skies. And don't miss the many studio tours or festivals such as the Port Elgin's internationally acclaimed Pumpkin Festival.

There's no better time for a walk or a drive in the country, or a visit to farm markets and stands. At Keady market you will find many Amish stands and you are likely to pass Amish buggies on backroads anywhere in the region.

Whether you are looking for organic local foods, culinary treasures, antiques or arts and crafts you will find shops, farm stands, markets and home studios scattered throughout the local countryside and villages. Check the many fall fairs in the area, too. They will give you a sample of country living that the whole family can enjoy.

And if you are interested in exploring green living alternatives and technologies, examples abound in the Grey/Bruce region. From solar, wind, and geothermal technologies to fully integrated off the grid living we are a region of ecological pioneers.

A glorious Thanksgiving celebration

Breathe Easy is the perfect place to bring family and friends together for Thanksgiving.

Not only are the fall colours unparalleled - with brilliant reds, oranges, yellows and golds punctuated by the deep greens of conifers - the views from the house are magniificent, perched as it is atop a hill overlooking the countryside in all directions.

The large gourmet kitchen and banquet tables will allow you to work together to produce a truly memorable feast, relaxing for the occasional stroll or rousing game of volleyball or pingpong as the spirit calls.

You can fill your table from local offerings from organic and Amish farm stands, farmers' markets, organic food stores and 100 mile markets. The possibibilities include:

  • local meats, including range fed and/or organic turkey, chicken, lamb, beef, pork, bison, elk, and venison;
  • wild caught and farmed fish such as lake trout, whitefish, perch and pickerel
  • cheeses (cow, sheep and goats's milk) from artisan cheesemakers in the region
  • a wonderful range of baked goods, from organic breads and cakes to pies and cookies from Amish farms and local bakeries
  • bountiful crops of fruits and vegetables (even wild foraged mushrooms) from organic and biodynamic farms and orchards
  • jams, pickles and specialty items from farms and households throughout the region
  • Artisan beers and ciders from local breweries and mills.

After the feast you can relax in the livingroom, library or sittingroom, on the screened porch and decks or around the firepit, or on leisurely walks on our 140 acres, along country laneways, or on the many local trails.
